Ungku Aziz actively supports the Malaysian co-operative movement, serving as the President of ANGKASA, the National Co-operative Organisation of Malaysia. Recognised for his contributions, he holds positions in the National Council of Co-operative Consultation and the Co-operative Development Fund Committee.
In his role as an economist, he focused on rural poverty, development, and labour productivity, addressing issues such as technology, infrastructure, debt cycles, and exploitative marketing mechanisms. Ungku Aziz was also one of the founding members of the Malaysian Economic Association, a think tank dedicated to discussing Malaysian economic matters.
As the Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaya, Ungku Aziz streamlined administrative processes and championed the incorporation of the national language in education, highlighting its significance in fostering unity and academic research.
