Merdeka-themed television series to be aired soon

27 JULY 2011, BY The Star
PETALING JAYA: A special television series discussing Merdeka-related topics will be aired soon.

The Merdeka Award Roundtable show will feature leaders from various industries and disciplines discussing topics that are expected to inspire the spirit of Merdeka.

The broadcast is being made in conjunction with the announcement of Merdeka Award 2011 recipients on Aug 22, the Merdeka Award Secretariat said in a statement on Monday.

It added that the series would feature a varied group of panellists taking part in discussions that would appeal to all Malaysians, especially the post-Merdeka generation.

A scholarship is also being offered as an opportunity for a young Malaysian to go to a renowned institution or organisation to pursue a course of study in a field that would contribute to the development of Malaysia.

Recipients will be awarded a grant based on submission of a proposal or working paper which will be selected by a committee.

The details of the programme will be announced in October.
