The latter has successfully planted over 400,000 trees and constructed more than 150 blocks in abandoned drainage canals. These efforts aim to raise water tables, prevent fires, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and enhance natural forest regeneration.
In addition to its peatland conservation efforts, the GEC has also been actively involved in promoting sustainable agriculture and promoting environmental education. The GEC has developed and implemented various sustainable agriculture programs, including organic farming and agroforestry initiatives, which provide farmers with alternative livelihoods and promote sustainable land use practices.
