Kelantan-born researcher Syaza Soraya Sauli champions early education as a powerful tool for climate action, nurturing preschoolers to love the earth before habits and worldviews take root.

Syaza Soraya Sauli, a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, is designing nature-based modules for Malaysian preschools, planting sustainability values early to shape lifelong environmental awareness.

Her vision doesn’t stop at the classroom. Syaza hopes to launch a national research hub on children and sustainability—and at the University of Minnesota Duluth, she’ll collaborate with global experts to begin turning that vision into reality.

Syaza received the Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment in 2023.
